Protecting Livestock, Safeguarding Livelihoods
In response to the devastating effects of prolonged drought, First Bridge Foundation, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Government of Kenya, and international donors, has been implementing the Emergency Drought Mitigation Support Project.
Project Focus
Livestock Health Interventions: Vaccination, deworming, and treatment of cattle, goats, and sheep to prevent disease outbreaks during drought.
Protecting Livelihoods: Healthy livestock means sustained milk and meat production, supporting household nutrition and income.
Saving Lives: By safeguarding animals — a key source of survival for pastoralist and smallholder families — the project reduces vulnerability and hunger.
Impact
Farmers in drought-affected counties have already reported reduced livestock mortality and improved milk yields thanks to the intervention. The support has been timely, ensuring that vulnerable households can maintain their livelihoods even in harsh climatic conditions.

Challenges
When an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
