Drought Mitigation Support for Vulnerable Communities

Flag-off by H.E. Governor Gladys Wanga

First Bridge Foundation, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Homa Bay County Government, distributed essential livestock feeds and farm inputs to drought-affected households. H.E. Governor Gladys Wanga officiated the exercise, reaffirming the county’s commitment to protect livelihoods, keep animals productive, and strengthen food security.

What the support provides

  • Nutritious livestock feeds to sustain milk/meat production during dry spells

  • Basic inputs and guidance on animal nutrition and husbandry

  • Household resilience, helping families maintain income and meet essentials like school fees

Community members expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting immediate relief in feeding their animals and stabilizing household nutrition. The initiative forms part of a broader climate-resilience program championed jointly by the County Government, FAO, and First Bridge Foundation.
