
Drought Mitigation Support for Vulnerable Communities
Flag-off by H.E. Governor Gladys Wanga
First Bridge Foundation, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Homa Bay County Government, distributed essential livestock feeds and farm inputs to drought-affected households. H.E. Governor Gladys Wanga officiated the exercise, reaffirming the county’s commitment to protect livelihoods, keep animals productive, and strengthen food security.
What the support provides
Nutritious livestock feeds to sustain milk/meat production during dry spells
Basic inputs and guidance on animal nutrition and husbandry
Household resilience, helping families maintain income and meet essentials like school fees
Community members expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting immediate relief in feeding their animals and stabilizing household nutrition. The initiative forms part of a broader climate-resilience program championed jointly by the County Government, FAO, and First Bridge Foundation.
